The History Of Wooden Beads

Wood is easy to find, so whenever there is you, you are sure to find wood beads. Wooden beads have a lot of history, but are sometimes not appreciated in modern artwork. There are many inspirations that come from wood, and when wood beads were first introduced, it created a new and establishing look for people worldwide. There are a variety of astonishing sizes, forms and style for these beautiful wood beads.

Common Source of Wood Beads

Wooden beads come from many different species of trees. These trees provide the perfect material to create a distributed and unique style. The sources of wood come form, olive, bamboo, ebony, sandalwood, palm, rose, pear, ironwood, bayong and many, many more sources.


All of these beautiful types of wood have been integrated in bead making for many reasons. Either it is because of the type of grain the wood consists of, or the aromatics of the wood. Olive trees are the most common in making wood beads because of the natural red and wavy grain darkens and hardens as the age progresses. This creates an elegant pattern.

Exotic Wooden Beads

Some of the most exotic places that these wood beads originate from is in Europe, Czech Republic, southern Asia, or the Middle East. In the Czech Republic, it is where the inexpensive bass wood and pine is found. It is here that they make children's toys, as well as the inexpensive wood beads that you find in most of the bead shops around the world. There are all forms of wood beads that is also generated here in America. There are artists who actually make their own wooden beads from their collection of exotic woods that are found all over the world.


Aromatic Wood Beads

Wood beads are most commonly made out of Sandalwood and Rosewood. Sandalwood beads give a light in color and weight, and have a distinct and soothing aroma. It is also believed by many to bring clearer perception to the person who is wearing these special wood beads.

Rosewood wooden beads is dark and heavy, and is also cherished for it's unique aroma. It is believed that wearing Rosewood beads ward off any negative energy, and strengthen the aura of the person who is wearing them.  When it comes to making wood beads, there is more to it that meets the eye.
